FareCast predicts Flight Deals

Seattle-based Farecast, now in private beta, is an airfare pricing comparision tool that also uses a predictive algorithm to recommend when you buy your ticket. So the idea is to show the user not just who has the cheapest ticket, but whether or not waiting might make sense as well. Look for Minneapolis-based Flyspy to launch a similar service in the near future.

Eunuchs issue own ID cards

Indian eunuchs have started issuing their own photo-identity cards in a battle for business with “fake” transsexuals who have muscled in on their begging operations.

Eunuchs regularly barge uninvited as “auspicious” visitors to Indian weddings and to bless the births of children and leave only after collecting money to spare their hosts embarrassment.

Lured by the money-making prospects, eunuchs say many men are dressing up as women and are involved in small-time crime and use more aggressive tactics to collect cash - prompting the issue of cards for “genuine” eunuchs.

The newcomers demand up to 2000 rupees (roughly $A60) for an occasion and refuse to be deterred by lesser amounts, said Sanju Masi, a eunuch operating in Ahmedabad in India’s western Gujarat state.

Dr Groves said that even today it could be possible for humans and chimps to have sex and produce offspring, although there would be ethical problems.

The very roots of the human family tree have been redrawn thanks to a groundbreaking study that has compared the genetic codes of humans and chimpanzees.

The US research, published in Nature, shows that the evolutionary split between humans and chimpanzees was not clean and sudden 7 million years ago, as previously suspected.

The split happened 6.3 million years ago at the earliest, say the scientists. But more importantly, the genetic analysis shows that chimpanzees and the earliest hominids continued to have sex with each other and swap genes for another 1.2 million years before the final break.

Hannibal Lecter: Tell me, Clarice - have the lambs stopped screaming?

reminds me of the scene from the movie Hannibal

Mason Verger: So what do ya think, Cordell? Does Lecter want to fuck her or kill her or eat her alive?
Cordell Doemling: Probably all three, though I wouldn’t want to predict in what order.

Kevin Ray Underwood, 26, shown in this undated photograph provided by the McClain County Sheriffs Office, was being held Saturday, April 15, 2006, in the McClain County Jail on a first-degree murder complaint. The body of missing 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolin was found in Underwoods purcell apartment Friday, police said. Prosecutors said they expect to file formal charges Monday and that they intend to seek the death penalty. (AP Photo/ McClain County Sheriffs Office)

PURCELL, Okla. — The body of a 10-year-old girl was found in a plastic tub in her neighbor’s closet, and police said she was killed as part of the neighbor’s elaborate plan to eat human flesh.

Her attacker apparently considered doing the same to other victims, a prosecutor said.

Jamie Rose Bolin had deep saw marks on her neck and apparently had been hit several times with a wooden cutting board, police Chief David Tompkins said. Agents removed meat tenderizer and barbecue skewers from his apartment, one floor down from the apartment where the girl lived with her father.

“This appears to have been part of a plan to kidnap a person, rape them, torture them, kill them, cut off their head, drain the body of blood, rape the corpse, eat the corpse, then dispose of the organs and bones,” Tompkins said.

Kevin Ray Underwood, 26, was arrested Friday after investigators found Jamie’s body in a bedroom closet in his apartment, authorities said. The girl’s unclothed body was inside a large plastic tub, along with a towel used to soak up blood, officials said. She wasn’t dismembered.
